DESCRIPTION:Lyrical Yesteryear collides\, old-school psychedelia collides with syrupy wordsmithing…psychedelic folk rock. indie-folk. Haunted Alt pop\n\n\nLyrical Yesteryear collides\, old-school psychedelia collides with syrupy wordsmithing…psychedelic folk rock. indie-folk. Haunted Alt popCorazon Performing Arts space… with three special musical offerings! This will be a night to remember\, and an evening to celebrate life through music & friendship! \nGTD CHAIR SEATING/FULL MUSICIAN SUPPORT: $25 or 2 for $40 \n STANDING\, GARDEN: $10 \n8-8:45 WILL AND HALLIE are a singer/songwriting duo. Inspired by root folk music from the Greenwich Village early sixties folk scene\, William Worden and Hallie Hostetter (Lady Appletree) combine forces to pass on the tradition of storytelling through song. \n9-9:45 “A bent version of 60’s pop…really fun.” — NPR \nTHE BLANK TAPES’ music sounds like a throwback to old-school psychedelia\, with some bluegrass and country influences thrown in. The songs have beachy chord progressions\, twangy guitar solos\, and solid verse-chorus-verse structures. Even the vocal hooks sound old. \n10-10:45 “After nearly two years in chrysalis\, I promise you a butterfly.”~ Sam Small \nSAM SMALL is a songwriter\, multi-instrumentalist\, and poet. Sam’s music is intimate\, intricate\, and lush in lyrical imagery with seemingly as much influence from music as poetry and literature. This mixed with the support of his band brings a sound both invitingly familiar and completely fresh\, invoking the attention to lyrical and instrumental detail from yesteryear while blending in modern sensibilities and feel. The band is comprised of Sam Small on lead vocals and guitar\, Nigel Wilson on keyboards and synthesizers\, Wayne Whittaker on bass\, Burleigh Drummond on drums and harmony vocals\, and John Would on guitar and lap steel. \nSpecial surprise libations will be available & consider dinner at Endless Color Pizza (nextdoor)\, or other tasty eateries in Topanga. Support local Topanga eateries or snacks from the general store. \nPIGEON CLUB\n \n \nPigeon Club is the music of Wayne Whittaker\, a musician and songwriter in Los Angeles. An accomplished multi-instrumentalist\, Whittaker primarily considers himself to be a bass player\, a role he’s held as both a gun-for-hire and collaborator in studios and on stages around the world. Pigeon Club’s debut record was released in 2021\, and a follow-up is expected in 2023.\n \n \nInstagram: @pigeonclubmusic \nMagana:\n \n \nBio:\n \n \nLA based Jeni Magaña combines growling electric guitars with synth landscapes and subtle grooves to create her unique “haunted bedroom pop” sound.\n \n“You Are Not a Morning Person” is out now on Beanie Tapes.\n \n \nInstagram: @maganarama

He lived in Seville and Lebrija\, Spain for 11 years and upon his return to the USA\, he began fusing roots Roma rhythms with Jazz and Blues. He has a long list of credits and collaborations including: director of Arte Y Pureza Flamenco Company\, producer of the Grammy featured “Say Their Names” production\, composer for Spanish Day with artwork by Bill Watterson\,performance and/or production credits with Macy Gray\, Judith Hill\, Herb Alpert\, Larry Grenadier\, Pedrito Mártinez\, Chano Domínguez\, Eric Harland\, Munyungo Jackson\, Miguel Funi\, Inés Bacán\, Rycardo Moreno\, Caramelo de Cuba\, and more. The other is an acoustic trio instrumental album with bassist\, Larry Grenadier and drummer\, Eric Harland. \nCihtli Ocampo – Described as a “…powerful dancer” by Dance magazine\, Cihtli Ocampo began her dance studies at the age of eight and moved to NYC at seventeen to study Dunham\, Horton\, jazz\, tap\, modern and ballet at the Ailey School and Steps On Broadway. In 1999\, she moved to Spain on a Fulbright Scholarship for the study of Flamenco and Spanish Dance. She spent the next eleven years immersed in Gitano (Spanish Roma) culture where she trained primarily with the legendary Farruco Family as well as Concha Vargas\, Manuela Carrasco\, Belen Maya\, Eva La Yerbabuena and Yolanda Heredia. She has performed and toured with many of the world’s most important flamenco artists including the Farruco family\, Ines Bacan\, Montse Cortes\, Miguel Funi\, Chano Dominguez\, & Manuel Molina. \nIn 2004 Ms. Ocampo was the featured female dancer in Tony Gatlif’s film Exils (Best Director\, Cannes Film Festival 2004). Ms. Ocampo now lives in Los Angeles where she continues her life-long commitment to cross-cultural understanding through the arts. In addition to performing\, Ms. Ocampo works as a guest choreographer\, teacher & movement coach for UCSB\, Cal Arts\, UCSD\, Pomona College\, Santa Monica College & independent studios and productions worldwide. She has choreographed over 30 original works for stage and film and taught thousands of students; teaching flamenco rooted in an understanding of its rhythm\, song\, improvisation and history. \nJuan Peña Bacán- born in Lebrija\, Spain in 1960 is the son of Bastián Bacán and Ana la del Pelao\, brother of singer Inés Bacán and guitarist Pedro Bacán\, great-grandson of Pinini\, nephew of Fernanda and Bernarda de Utrera\, and first cousin of El Lebrijano\, El Funi and El Turronero. It is precisely within this legendary family of Gypsy singers that Juan learned his particularly intimate form of cante gitano hablado (spoken Gypsy song). His singing is characterized by precise rhythmic nuances along with a deep knowledge of the roots of the main Gypsy cantes\, the solea\, the siguiriyas and the bulerias. Juan’s voice\, much like the older flamenco giants Juan Talega and Tio Borrico\, has a deep\, rich quality and rebels against the modern tendency in flamenco to yell or scream out verse. His voice is like an aged wine that becomes increasingly more satisfying with every drop. Juan Bacán’s discography includes: Que Nos Queda (Sevilla Ediciones) and Soleángeles. \nRaúl Pineda – Grammy award-winner and 3-time Grammy-nominated\, RAUL PINEDA\, has been named one of today’s best and most innovative Latin drummers in the world. Raul’s unique style of playing — a result of a coveted blend of Afro Cuban and contemporary influences applied to the modern drum set — have catapulted him into being one of Cuba’s most influential drummers of his generation. Born and raised in Havana\, Cuba\, Raul’s musical foundation was cultivated by his challenging socio-economic surroundings. As a young boy\, Raul created makeshift drum kits by staking discarded steel rods into the ground and attaching old tin cans that had been used to store cooking oil. His first drumsticks were made from branches of a nearby orange tree. Pineda’s credits include: Chucho Valdés\, Michel Camilo\, and Giovanni Hidalgo amongst many others. \nRic Fierabracci is an American bassist who has toured and/or recorded with such artists as Frank Gambale\, Chick Corea\, Sir Tom Jones\, Dave Weckl\, Billy Cobham\, Bradley Joseph\, Shakira\, Nancy Sinatra\, Planet X\, The 5th Dimension\, The Beach Boys\, and Yanni. He is featured on Yanni’s live concert videos and albums Live at the Acropolis\, Live at Royal Albert Hall\, and Tribute\, most recently touring during the 2003 Ethnicity world tour. He also appears in Shakira’s music video “Inevitable” Fierabracci had performed as the house bassist at the L.A. jazz club “The Baked Potato” until he relocated to New York City\, and has also contributed to numerous TV and film jingles.

SUMMARY:Bulletproof Unicorn
DESCRIPTION:A dark comedy about America\, Guns\, Drunks and God.\n\n\nFresh off the Edinburgh Fringe\, Stacie Burrows brings her solo dark comedy Bulletproof Unicorn to Corazón in Topanga on Sunday\, November 6th at 7pm. \n“[Bulletproof Unicorn] is one of the wildest of wild rides\, and more so because it’s based on real events. For most comedians who relate tales of their lives\, there’s an understanding that complete veracity might be sacrificed for a punchline. That’s not the sense you get from Ms. Burrows – not because it’s not funny – but because it’s hard to imagine why you would make up such consistently horrible stuff….Ms. Burrows is a natural storyteller….this is a show with fascinating source material that’s worth a punt.” -One4Review

BELLYDANCERS: \nFABRICE MARTINEZ\, Violin Virtuoso Between busking in a mule-drawn\, handmade wagon across Europe performing Eastern European gypsy music to mixing world\, jazz\, and gypsy music in artistic haunts of Los Angeles\, it’s no surprise that Fabrice Martinez has spent his life absorbing the culture and music of every country he’s traveled through. This is why the Paris-born\, L.A.-based artist is considered one of the most versatile and musically diverse violinists today. \nDUSTY BROUGH\, GUITAR Guitarist Dusty Brough brilliantly combines his roots in Flamenco with Jazz\, Folk\, Brazilian\, Gypsy and Balkan music. As a composer\, he integrates these eclectic influences with his unique approach to music and a “blatant disregard for genre boxes” (Joe Bendel\, Epoch Times). Brough’s nylon-string guitar playing is marked by an unparalleled agile technique that supports a buoyant aesthetic. Dusty creates something truly remarkable by seamlessly blending lush harmonies\, intricate rhythms and improvisation\, with a fluidity\, presence\, and rhythm that can only be compared to the rolling waves of the ocean. www.dustybrough.com \n* MILES JAY ~ Multifaceted virtuoso Double Bass\, Buzuk & Lyra \nMiles Jay is a composer and instrument maker\, and an active performer with many prominent artists around the world. Broad in range of his musical influences and communities\, Miles has lived abroad for years absorbing styles from many traditions\, and has performed in such venues as Carnegie Hall\, the Emirates Palace Abu Dhabi\, TED 2013 Long Beach\, and the United Nations. \nFrom 2005 to 2012\, Miles lived in Egypt and Lebanon\, performing and collaborating with many beloved artists of the region\, including Youssou N’Dour\, Ziad Rahbani\, Naseer Shamma\, Ross Daly\, and the Cairo Symphony Orchestra. During this time he co-founded and co-produced several ensembles and albums\, as well as traveled extensively around the region for concerts in Dubai\, Turkey\, Greece\, Tunisia\, Oman\, Algeria\, Senegal\, Syria\, and Western Europe. Active in studios as well\, Miles worked with composer Khaled Mouzannar as music consultant and instrumentalist on the score to Nadine Labaki’s latest film “Where do we go Now\,” an official selection of both Sundance and Cannes. Throughout all of this valuable experience\, Miles focused on re-imagining the bass’s role both as an accompanying instrumental and as a melodic lead\, adapting a wide range of Arabic\, Greek\, and Turkish ornamentation to develop his own extended technique when playing with a bow. \nMILO GONZALEZ: Milo Gonzalez is a guitarist born of a multi-generational family of artists and musicians native to Venice Beach. With his mother being a rock vocalist\, and his step father being a founding member of the renowned hardcore punk band Black Flag\, Milo grew up around heavy rock music. \nInspired to play both electric and acoustic guitar\, Milo discovered a deep love for ‪flamenco‬ and classical guitar music\, finding it’s dark\, emotive\, and aggressive qualities alluring and similar to that of his rock roots. Milo has developed a unique and hard to define style of music that derives as much influence from legendary guitar virtuosos such as ‪Paco De Lucia‬\, and ‪Vicente Amigo‬\, as it does from rock/metal/psychedelic legends like ‪Black Sabbath‬ and ‪Radiohead‬.
