Broad in range of his musical influences and communities\, Miles has lived abroad for years absorbing styles from many traditions\, and has performed in such venues as Carnegie Hall\, the Emirates Palace Abu Dhabi\, and the United Nations. \nFrom 2005 to 2012\, Miles lived in Egypt and Lebanon\, performing and collaborating with many beloved artists of the region\, including Youssou N’Dour\, Ziad Rahbani\, Naseer Shamma\, Ross Daly\, and the Cairo Symphony Orchestra. DESCRIPTION:Brazilian guitarist Fabiano do Nascimento + drummer Julien Cantrel perform “Lendas” and more\n\n\nFabiano do Nascimento + Julien Cantrel perform “Lendas” and more \nTHU MARCH 16th 8PM in Topanga Canyon. \ndoors open 7:45pm \n\n$25 GTD Sit Down Chair Seating\n$20 Pillow and Standing\, Garden Access\n\nLendas is the Brazilian guitarist Fabiano do Nascimento’s fifth album for Now-Again Records.  \n“This show at Corazon featuring drummer Julien Cantrel will be an intimate / “stripped down” version of the compositions and arrangements from latest album LENDAS + new music that is unreleased”. \n“Lendas” translates from Portuguese as “legends\,” but the literal translation itself doesn’t describe this album. With Lendas\, Do Nascimento recalls memories from places that no longer exist; from fever dreams in the Amazon; from parts of the world we might never see or engage\, but can imagine through music. \nLike his previous albums Prelúdio and Ykytu\, Lendas features do Nascimento’s compositions\, this time with orchestral arrangements by Vittor Santos (not performing) and also special participation by Arthur Verocai (not performing). \nABOUT THE “LENDAS” PROJECT: \nVittor Santos is a composer\, arranger\, trombonist and music producer from Rio de Janeiro\, who has worked in Brazilian music for over thirty years. Do Nascimento and Santos met in Rio in 2017 during the recording of Do Nascimento’s hero\, and 70s and 80s Brasilian guitar catalyst Carioca Freitas album Aquarelas. The two bonded over a mutual appreciation for Do Nascimento’s uncle Lúcio and the Bossa Nova star Leny Andrade\, both of whom largely influenced Do Nascimento’s musical foundation. \nIn Santos\, Fabiano found an arranger who was sensitive enough in his orchestrations that he could create an orchestral dialogue between stacks of strings and Do Nascimento’s plaintive plucking. It was only natural to invite the highest regarded\, now legendary\, 1970s Brazilian arranger\, Arthur Verocai\, to contribute. Verocai\, who had worked with Do Nascimento on his forays in Los Angeles\, was pleased to participate. In this way\, the circle of old and new\, so crucial in Do Nascimento’s work\, comes together and flows outwards. \n******** \nFABIANO is a Rio de Janeiro-born\, LA-based multi-string guitarist\, composer and producer with an ever-expansive sound\, borrowing from the traditions of samba and choro while echoing elements of modern jazz\, pop\, experimental & electronic. \nAs drummer in San Diego\, JULIEN CANTREL is highly sought after for his versatile and creative styles. Sean Cullen\, Pete Thomason\, Brendon O’Halloran and Adam Rundquist began playing gigs on St. paddys day tunder the name O’Tangent o quench their love of Irish music. O’Tangent  ( named after their inability to rehearse due to the members incessant talking and tangents\, the O’ thrown in to make it Irish sounding) For years was purely an annual band that only played a few gigs a year. No surprise there. \nThat changed when Sean And Brendon tired of the tangenting conceived of a New format. They wanted to bring the energy of the tradition of musicians playing around a table in a pub\, to the stage.  \nSo “The Table ‘ was born. Sean and Brendon would lead the songs standing in front and the group would sit at a table on stage as though they were in a pub. \nThis Became The Regulars. Joining the Regulars was Tim O’Gara\, Tim Moynahan\, Scott Grusin\, and Eric Rasmussen who became part of the core. \nIn 2000 something Cullen moved to Oregon for two years. During this time O’Halloran was left holding the bag. He took over leadership and changed the format again. This time all members sat at the table and the stage show consisted of 6-7 members onstage taking turns singing and backing each other on vocals. With each member playing multiple instruments including two trombone players the group created a unique and full sound that began to inspire and gain momentum.  \nThe group began to play year round and usually played multiple gigs on St. paddys day. The group imploded one year on St paddys day culimnating in a bar room brawl that still has them banned from Molly Malones. \nSean got lonely and moved back from from Oregon and started a new Irish band “lilt ‘n tang” (yes that really is the name) with Scott Grusin and music teacher Joel Mankey. Lilt n’ Tang recorded \, played steady gigs\, took nice pictures\, had a promo package and all that cool stuff. O’Halloran got bored of playing with himself and started sitting in. but then that kind of imploded too. Slowly the two bands began to merge with members of the Regulars drifting into salt n’ pep…. I mean Lilt N’ Tang and vice versa. \nToday The Regulars \, after almost 22 years of playing together\, are more like a family then a band. \nGetting together around St. Paddys and playing the music for the love of it. Sons of the group members have learned the songs and sometimes join them onstage in a generational ensemble singing the rich songs of history\, culture and Irish life\, past and present.

Imagine if Miles Davis and Jimi Hendrix had a musical baby in the Delta of the Nile\, and George Clinton was the midwife\, it might sound like Maetar. \nItai Disraeli – Bass \nHagai Izraeli – Horns \nRichard Fultineer – Drums \nBrothers Itai (bass) and Hagai (horns) were born in war torn Israel on a kibbutz and started making music at the age of six and four. The whole family use to gather around their grandfather’s table every Saturday and jam. They grew into legitimate musicians; Hagai became a soloist with Israeli orchestras and Itai became a celebrated and sought after bassist\, winning “Bass Player of the year”. \nDetermined to use their music as an instrument of peace and joined by renowned drummer/world percussionist\, Richard Fultineer\, Maetar forged their sound and style. \nTheir concerts for human rights and peace have brought Arab\, Israeli\, Muslim\, Christian\, and Buddhist musicians and communities together. Maetar’s music is a declaration of peace\, calling on Hebrew and Arabic melodies\, filtering it through a rigorous jazz perspective\, and the exuberance of funk\, soul\, afrobeat\, and rock. Playing native instruments from the world over\, employing rhythms and melodic modes from various cultures\, Maetar brothers embody the universal language of music with their original sound\, inspirational melodies\, seductive grooves and inventive use of modern technology. \nMaetar as created a body of work that has been featured in concert halls\, festivals\, movies and television. Playing and recording with great musicians from around the world such as James Gadson\, Jackson Browne\, Roger Waters\, Susanna Hoff (Bangles)\, Tony Allen (Fella Kuti)\, Trilok Gurtu\, Larry Coryell\, Nishat Khan\, Prince Diabate of Guinea and Omar Faruk Tekbilek to name a few\, helped the band shape its sound and inspired it to dig deeper. \nThe new Maetar cycle of works celebrates the group’s forging a new musical path. Desiring to create an original musical language that will express their passion for peace and reach across borders\, the band  once declined public appearances for 3 years and woodshed in a loft over a vintage pirate outfit factory. The mindset of deep listening as foundation for peace led to the operative mode “CPWO” – Completely Present and Wide-Open – playing live in the same room\, no charts\, overdubs\, click track and clichés. Instead\, creating an environment in which all participants interact equally\, listening deeply\, being in the moment without preconceived notions and patiently exploring the elements of music. \nThis discipline led to many hours of experimentation with the sounds of diverse instruments\, rhythms\, modes\, grooving\, looping\, layering and shaping. His second album\, ‘Nuevos Comienzos’\, was released in 2015 and has received critical acclaim for it’s composition\, innovation\, and technical virtuosity.  \n* \nMANUEL GUTIERREZ:  Manuel Gutierrez Cabello was born in Montpellier\, France after his parents had migrated to South of France from Cordoba\, Spain. Manuel is considered to be a charismatic and passionate performer that over-delivers at every show. From a young age he had shown a talent for dance\, winning his first flamenco award at only 8 years old. He began to develop his unique style under the direction of Lita Peiro\, José Galván and later with Joaquin Grilo and Javier Latorre. \nBy age twenty\, Gutierrez began producing works and dancing across Europe with legendary artists including Duquende\, Chicuelo\, Juan Carmona and Chispa Negra. He also began to collaborate with top French choreographers Redha\, Marjorie Ascione\, and Gerome Zerbie. In 2008\, Manuel was invited to choreograph the production “Flamenco Flamen’ka” which sold out the Lyric Theatre in London and and ran for five years in Great Britain and France. Guiterrez’s fame as a choreographer and producer was growing. \nThe Telegraph in London called his work “Fiery.” \nDanse Magazine nicknamed him\, “The Young Flamenco Prince.” Figarro Newspaper raved “The dance is strong\, voluptuous\, and spectacular… a profound type of Flamenco and incredibly explosive.” \n* \nDAVID MORALES BOROFF is a violinist and composer who graduated from Berklee School of Music in 2018. He performs original compositions and gypsy jazz as well as collaborations in the world of  Flamenco and Latin music.
