SANGAM Record Release in Topanga Canyon Paul Livingstone & Pete Jacobson

SAT SEPT 24th!!! Join in the celebration of a new record release, SANGAM with one of the leading sitarists in the country, Paul Livingstone & cellist Pete Jacobson. This is a special early concert offering at eclectic Corazon Performing Arts in collaboration with Soul Force Project.
SANGAM is the chamber music duo of sitarist Paul Livingstone and cellist Peter Jacobson. Sangam performs innovative compositions and improvisations straddling the worlds of Indian classical music and European polyphony which arc between deep musical meditations to dynamic poly-rhythmic counterpoint. Their unique sound is imbibed with the free spirit of a jazz improvisation and incorporates touches of Latin and popular music styles. Paul & Pete have been recording and touring together for over 12 years performing with Arohi Ensemble, Build an Ark and Quartetto Fantastico among many other projects born of the globalized Los Angeles creative music community. They have been featured on three Grammy Award winning records artists such as with Ozomatli, Quetzal & Rickey Kej. Sangam means ‘a confluence of rivers’, it is a meeting place of disparate streams flowing into one.

PAUL LIVINGSTONE, Sitar
Born in Beirut, Lebanon, international performing artist Paul Livingstone is one of the leading sitarists in America today. He has focused his studies in the creative tradition of Indian classical raga music in which he has been rigorously trained for the past 25 years in India and the US studying under the late Amiya Dasgupta, Rajeev Taranath and the living legend Pandit Ravi Shankar.Paul has performed in around the US, Mexico, Europe & Asia and has just returned from a major concert tour performing Indian music in Nepal, India, Czech & Germany.
As a committed composer Paul also leads his own Arohi Ensemble and has composed for film, television, theater and dance. He also plays a variety of fretless guitars and requintos of his own design and has also developed a unique style of ‘ragajazz chamber music’ blending Indian ragas, jazz, counterpoint & rhythmic material from diverse world traditions. As a creative force for true ‘world music synthesis’, Paul maintains a clear vision for the dissemination of traditional forms and is grounded in the rich cultural milieu of Los Angeles as a dedicated teaching artist & community activist.
PETE JACOBSON, Cello
Peter Jacobson is a cellist, producer, songwriter-singer, chamber musician, teacher and music selector who has recorded, performed and toured with renowned artists. He studied with Eleonore Schoenfeld at USC as well as at Cal Arts and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. In 2013 he won a Grammy for best Latin Rock Alternative or Urban Album as a member of the group Quetzal. Mr. Jacobson has recorded cello for Dr. Dre and frequently plays alongside the San Diego Symphony. Pete has recorded for film and tv, including The Walking Dead. In 2000 he was a member of the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan and has performed in the US, Mexico, Asia, Australia the Midlle East and Europe. He plays with Grammy winning Southwest Chamber Music, the Arohi Ensemble, the 440’s, SANGAM, ThE CoNcEnTr8s, Quartetto Fantastico, the Hutchins Consort and as a freelance cellist.
